The Discovery Center launches The Special Kids Collaborative to serve autism and disability visitors

This week, The Discovery Center children’s museum announced their “Special Kids Collaborative”, the new Autism and Disability services arm of the organization.

“During this forward-thinking initiative, we’re teaming up with autism specialists, educators and service providers in the development of appropriate programs and experiences for the special children in our shared communities. This includes the incorporation of autism-sensitive days here at The Discovery Center,” says Executive Director, Dusty Welsh.

The Special Kids Collaborative has been established to provide autism and disability friendly programs and exhibits to engage, educate and inspire the special children and adults across the community.

The Discovery Center is to host a Community Action Day at their downtown Mount Clemens location, bringing together disability and autism care providers across Southeast Michigan. The date and time for this event will be announced soon.
