The Discovery Center Announces New Jumpstart Readiness Program

The Discovery Center of Macomb announces new Jumpstart readiness program bringing financial literacy and career development opportunities to Southeast Michigan youth.

MOUNT CLEMENS, MI – Did you know? April is Financial Literacy Month! To better support local youth in financial literacy, responsible money-management, and career-focused development, the Discovery Center announces their new “Jumpstart” readiness program serving grade school children and local area teens.

With a first year lineup of programs including the 1st Annual Piggy Bank Roundup, the Business Heroes recognition week, and a series of virtual Career Conversations and Financial Literacy programs for teens, the program aims to foster financial skills, and provide accessible and enriching vocational development experiences for local youth.

The Discovery Center’s Jumpstart readiness places a special emphasis on providing opportunities to bridge the gap for historically underserved youth in the region, “Our goal with the new Jumpstart Readiness program is to help young people launch their future careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and to learn money-management skills at a young age,” says museum founder and president Monika Rittner. “We believe in the unique life-skills benefits these programs provide for learners of all ages,” she says.

During the first year, the Jumpstart readiness program is set to host a variety of virtual and downtown events geared for local K-12 students, and college age learners. Parents, access the complete line-up of financial literacy and career development programs available for your child, below.
