MOUNT CLEMENS, MI – Love science?  Now, the child in you (or your actual kids) can gear up for a day at the museum! With more than 12,500 feet of exhibit and event space coming to the downtown, The Discovery Center children’s hands-on experience is poised to become a valuable asset for the county, the people of southeast Michigan, and the local Mount Clemens community.

“We are excited to be part of this effort to bring a STEAM based children’s experience to Macomb County.  The location that was selected in downtown Mount Clemens is optimal for serving the children and families of southeast Michigan.  We are excited to be working with Nick Rizzo of GTR Companies who sees the potential impact of the museum on the area,” says Monika Rittner, President of The Discovery Center.

Located at 70 Macomb Place, Mount Clemens, the new museum seeks to act as hub for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) programs and services across Macomb County. The initiative aims to add to the quality of life for residents across southeast Michigan by offering educational and recreational opportunities for local Michigan families. As the local level, the new center is an important player in the downtown revitalization efforts underway in Mount Clemens, and is welcomed by a community eager to see new, fun attractions for families in the area.

“As a member of the original committee for the Children’s Hands-on Museum, I am glad to see that the project has come full circle back to Mount Clemens.  I would like to thank all of the committee members who carried on this vision to make it a reality.  The Discovery Center will be an enriching experience, not only for Mount Clemens families but families in the whole tri-county area.  We are thrilled to welcome this exciting new venue to our city,” says Barb Dempsy, Mayor of Mount Clemens, Michigan.

The Discovery Center plans to offer walkable exhibits, interesting science displays, educational and family programming and year-round events.

The center is one of several new attractions that have opened up shop in downtown Mount Clemens including the Nest Women’s Retail Collaborative, Pops olde time candy and ice creme shop, and May’s breakfast and lunch eatery, all adding to the flair of this all-American walkable downtown.
